Gulf G-Mark certification

1、 GCC Certification Background

Starting from July 1, 2016, Gulf countries will enforce GCC certification requirements for technical regulations related to certain low-voltage electrical equipment and supplies.
After the implementation of this regulation, some low-voltage electrical equipment manufactured locally or imported into the market of seven Gulf countries (including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Yemen) must meet the safety regulations and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements listed in this technical regulation.

2、 GCC authentication mode

Non mandatory products: Apply for customs clearance documents according to the previous process;
Mandatory product: The product undergoes testing and is issued a GCC type certification certificate by a recognized organization designated by GSO (Gulf Standardization Organization).

GCC certification for seven Gulf countries: UAE GCC certification, Bahrain GCC certification, Saudi Arabia GCC certification, Oman GCC certification, Qatar GCC certification, Kuwait GCC certification, Yemen GCC certification.

3、 GCC certified product scope

At present, 13 specific categories of electrical products have been included in the mandatory certification scope of GCC, and must obtain a GCC type certification certificate issued by a recognized organization designated by GSO. Only products marked with G-mark can be circulated among the 7 Gulf member countries. Products marked with G-mark indicate that the product has met the requirements of GCC technical regulations.

The mandatory low voltage electrical products for GCC certification are as follows：

1. Household electric fan
2. Microwave oven
3. Refrigerators/freezers and other household refrigeration equipment with a capacity not exceeding 30 cubic feet
4. Other furnaces; Electric pot, electric heating plate, heating ring, barbecue grill and roaster
5. Centrifugal clothes dryer/washing machine, including dual-purpose washing machine for washing and drying, with a laundry capacity not exceeding 12 kilograms
6. Electric fast water heaters, storage water heaters, and immersion liquid heaters
7. Food grinder and mixer/fruit or vegetable juicer
8. Electric iron
9. Household toaster
10. Plug, socket, adapter, power cord and extension cord, charger
11. Electric hair clippers and hand dryers
12. Air conditioning
13. Household electric heating equipment

GCC certified toy products are as follows:

All toys for children under 14 years old.

GCC certification exemption products

1. Electrical products used in special environments (such as flammable environments)
 2. Products used for radiation and medical purposes
 3. Components of freight elevators or passenger elevators
 4. Electricity meter
5. Grid controller
 6. Radio interference products
 7. Professional products for ships, airplanes, and trains that comply with international safety standards.

4、 GCC certification G-mark certification process

1) Manufacturers provide product information (manuals, circuit diagrams, customs codes, product explosion diagrams), samples, and application forms;
 2) Evaluate the safety and electromagnetic compatibility of the product according to GCC technical regulations, determine product testing standards, and conduct testing;
 3) Complete testing, write and review reports, and register products in the GSO database. The certification system assigns product registration numbers;
 4) Our company issues a G-mark certificate and grants customers the right to use the G-mark logo on their products.

 Documentation: Application form, safety+EMC report (if required), risk assessment report, circuit schematic, instruction manual (in English+Arabic), product photos, nameplate photos, ISO9001 system certification (if applicable).
 Cycle: 3-5 weeks

5、 GCC Certification Precautions

a) CB certificate reports and EMC reports with a validity period of 3 years can be used for application, and our company will review whether the reports meet the requirements of the local country;
 b) No factory audit required, G-mark certificate is valid for three years from the date of issuance;
 c) The product manual needs to be bilingual in English and Arabic;
 d) After obtaining the G-mark, the product needs to be exported to 7 Gulf countries, and corresponding customs clearance certificates need to be applied for;
 e) The regulations for plug requirements in the seven Gulf countries will vary, and products with plugs also need to undergo random plug testing.
