1、 Certification Introduction

The the Republic of Botswana is a relatively rich country in southern Africa. Although its population is less than 4 million, its consumption capacity is very strong, perhaps because of its wealth. The annual consumption capacity of a Botswana country can rival that of a backward country with a population of 20 to 30 million. With Botswana's increasingly frequent foreign economic and trade exchanges in recent years, the Botswana government formulated an import product control act at the end of 2008 according to its own actual situation, that is, the Botswana SIIR certification system, or the Botswana COC certification system, which is now implemented, according to the certification issued by the Botswana Bureau of Standards BOBS The system requirements show that the bill is planned to be implemented in October 2008. In order not to affect the overall economic and trade order, Botswana Bureau of Standards BOBS The mandatory enforcement period was set on April 1, 2009, which means that exporters were given a six-month buffer period.

3、 Certification process

At present, there is only one operation mode for Botswana COC certification, that is, one-time COC certification mode. This mode requires the applicant to contact the Botswana COC certification authority in the host country, and then submit the completed certification application form (RFC), product test report, commercial invoice, packing list, declaration of conformity and other documents to PNT for application, After receiving the materials, the PNT agency first reviews the materials. If the materials do not meet the requirements, it will point out where they are unqualified, and then ask the applicant to modify them until they are qualified. After the materials pass the review, the Botswana COC certification agency will arrange personnel to conduct on-site inspection of the exporter's goods to confirm whether they meet the requirements of Botswana standards and Botswana technical specifications. If necessary, samples will be taken at the site for testing. If the test results are qualified, CoC certificates will be issued finally according to the goods provided by the importer (for air transport, certificates can be issued according to pro forma invoices) If the sampling test fails, the COC certificate will not be issued.

Botswana COC Certification Fee Standard

4、 Fee standard:

Cost composition: product testing fee+inspection fee

Applying for Botswana COC certification is the same as other conformity certification. In addition to the cost of inspection, product testing is also required. There is no unified standard for this testing fee, which depends on the specific product. For example, the product is simple and the cost is not expensive. For electronic and electrical products, the cost is much higher, and there is no unified standard. If the applicant needs to ship products with a test report issued by a third-party laboratory, and the laboratory issuing the test report has CNAS17025 qualification, and the date of report issuance does not exceed 1 year, it can generally be accepted directly. If the shipped products have been certified by other countries, such as UL certification in the United States, TUV certification in Germany, VDE certification in Germany, GS certification in Germany, as long as there is a test report and the date of report issuance does not exceed 1 year, it can also be accepted. So we can also skip the testing step.

Botswana COC certification cycle

The period of COC certification in Botswana depends on the product and whether the product has a test report issued by a third-party CNAS17025 qualified laboratory. For example, if the electronic product needs to be shipped, the certification authority will generally require the applicant to provide a test report issued by a third-party CNAS17025 qualified agency. If there is no test report, the test will generally be required, and the period will be extended for more than ten days, or even more than 20 days. If there is a test report that can be recognized, the cycle will be relatively short. The normal cycle is usually around 20 working days, which is also closely related to customer cooperation. Some customers may not make timely payments, so the cycle will be slower. Sometimes, after receiving a fee notification, they may not make payment for more than 10 days. This cycle is definitely not fast because no matter what certification is done, it requires close cooperation from the customer. If the customer does not cooperate well, it is impossible to speed up.

5、 Inspection content

1. Product label: such as product name, model, place of origin, trademark, exporter or manufacturer name.

2. Identification: Check whether the trademark on the product label is a counterfeit brand trademark, especially the origin mark.

3. View appearance: such as checking for damage, rust, corrosion, etc

4. Count quantity: Open the box and count the quantity proportionally based on the total number on the packing list

5. Packaging inner and outer boxes: Check whether the size of the packaging and the markings on the outer box meet the requirements

6. Photography: Take on-site photos of the inspection, including product labels, packaging marks, and overall photos of the bulk goods. And photos of the packaging situation.

7. Sampling: If a sample needs to be taken, the inspector will conduct on-site sampling, which is generally not necessary.

6、 Precautions

1. Pay attention to whether your product has a testing report recognized by the certification authority, as having a testing report that can be recognized by the certification authority can save a lot of testing costs, especially for electronic products. Some customers' products have undergone VDE certification, GS certification, or UL certification, and this testing report can generally be directly accepted as long as the report date does not exceed one year. If it is an electronic and electrical product, if the voltage is also 220V and the frequency is 50Hz, it can be directly accepted without the need for additional differential testing. These can all save money.
