With the development of trade, buyers and consumers have increasingly high requirements for product safety and quality. The Malaysian government has stipulated that if products are regularly shipped to Malaysia, suppliers must apply for product certification. In 1998, Malaysia promulgated the new Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which provided detailed regulations on telecommunications services and market access conditions in Malaysia.
At the same time, a new telecommunications regulatory agency, the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (CMC), was born.
According to the Communication and Multimedia Law, the placement of communication equipment on the market requires an application to CMC or a certification body designated by CMC for type certification, obtaining equipment certification certificates and certification marks.
The type certification of communication equipment is the responsibility of the Communication Equipment Testing Section (CETS) under the jurisdiction of SIRIM for specific certification matters.
SIRIM is the only certification management agency in Malaysia, and electronic products entering Malaysia require the application of SIRIM certification certificate. In principle, the applicant should be a local institution in Malaysia. The application and management of SIRIM certification are specifically handled by SIRIM QAS International, which issues SIRIM certificates.
Compulsory Certification
Sample testing requires
Local testing is required (only for functional verification)
The certificate is valid for 5 years
Processing cycle 3-5 weeks
Communication equipment and the "Regulations on the Approval of Electrical Equipment" stipulate that the following 31 types of products must undergo mandatory type certification and safety certification: plugs (below 15A), switches and dimmers, sockets (below 15A), fluorescent lamps and starting frames, ceiling light wire boxes, bayonet lamp holders and multi head adapters, fluorescent lamps (except for separately imported lamps), capacitors for fluorescent lamps, fluorescent lamp ballasts, leakage protectors, electric water heaters (including separately imported heaters), hair dryers, desk lamps, liquid heating appliances, electric irons, electric shavers, kitchen video mixers, immersion heaters, high fidelity devices, mosquito repellents, bread ovens, electric fans, televisions, vacuum cleaners, players, washing machines, refrigerators, rice cookers Christmas lights, household electric tools, wires and cables
Other products fall within the scope of voluntary certification

1. Evaluate whether the product requires SIRIM certification
2. Conduct IECCB testing and certification (if there is an IECCB certificate, it can be omitted)
3. To register for ST, energy efficiency products require an energy efficiency report review
4. Submit IECCE report and factory quality documents to apply for SIRIM certification
5. After the document review is approved, the application will be accepted and the factory will be arranged for review
6. Factory review passed, submitted for approval
7. Issuing SIRIM product certification certificate
The first factory inspection must comply with the product certification system. Once it meets the requirements, a certificate will be issued with a validity period of one year.
