According to Article 2 of the Colombian National Constitution, the authorities of the Republic have an obligation to protect the life, honor, and property of all persons residing in Colombia. The Colombian Ministry of Energy issued regulations in 2004 regarding the safe use of electrical products, detailing the testing and regulatory requirements that should be followed for each type of electrical product used in Colombia, including components and household appliances, telecommunications products, commercial electrical products, etc.

RETIE Electrical Installation Technical Regulations - establish the requirements for ensuring the legal objectives of electrical risk protection, and establish the basic provisions for determining the scope and basic characteristics of electrical installation. Requirements that may affect the relationship between personnel interacting with power equipment or power services and power users.

RETIE(REGLAMENTO TECNICO DE INSTALACIONES ELECTRICAS) As the technical legislative body of Colombia, implement and revise the (Standard Technical Regulations for Electrical Equipment). Emphasized and described in detail the testing and installation requirements for each electronic and electrical product used in Colombia, including components and household appliances, telecommunications products, commercial electrical products, etc. As long as the products listed in this (standard technical regulations for electrical equipment) are mandatory to obtain certification. Electrical products using AC power of 200W and above 25V must have RETIE certification before they can be exported to Colombia. During customs clearance, the relevant RETIE certificates will be inspected by the customs.

The scope of RETIE aims to control the following aspects of electrical installations:

Electrical installation

Personnel (responsible for electrical installations)

Product (regulated by RETIE)

There are generally two different ways to obtain Colombian certification to choose from:

The first method is to sample and test the goods upon arrival in Colombia, and the samples must be sent to the designated testing and inspection agency in Colombia for testing. Only after passing the inspection can they be sold in the market;

The second method is to conduct testing at the production site, which requires a factory inspection of the manufacturer. After confirming that the product has passed the inspection and factory inspection, it can be shipped.

We can provide you with comprehensive, one-stop testing and certification services for Colombian Retilap.
