NF logo

The NF mark is a product certification system in France. NF is the code name for French standards, and its governing body is the French Association for Standardization (AFNOR). The French NF logo was implemented in 1938. In 1942, the French Secretary of State at the level of Minister of Economy and Finance, Minister of Agriculture, and Secretary of State for Industrial Production jointly issued the "National Logo Regulations", further improving the NF logo system. Although France is one of the early countries in the world to carry out product certification, the variety of products certified over the past 50 years is not very extensive. The NF marking system is mainly applicable to more than 60 types of products in the following three categories: ① household appliances; ② Furniture; ③ Building materials. 2、 French Electrotechnical Union (UTE) NF certification


French Electrotechnical Union (UTE) NF certification

1. Introduction to UTE organization and its logo NF

Name of National Certification Body: UTE(UNION TECHNIQUE DE L’ELECTRITE)AUX-ROSES,FRANCE UTE(UNION TECHNIQUE DE L’ELECTRITE) Established in 1907, it is an alliance that includes all departments of French electronics and electrical engineering, particularly represented by the following:

(1) ELECTICITE DE FRANCE (French Ministry of Electricity)

(2) FEDERATION DES INDUSTRIQUES ET ELCTRONIQUES

(3) Electrical Contractors Alliance for Power Grids, Power Plants, and Industrial Electrical Facilities

(4) Ministry of Industry (Electronic Components)

(5) Ministry of National Defense

(6) Telecommunications Department

The common concern of all members of UTE is to provide users with the most secure and quality assured facilities, equipment, and devices. EDF focuses on all power users, especially those who have the most suitable equipment and devices for their requirements.

2. UTE's business

(1) Develop and communicate standards for electronic and electrical products and their devices, as well as any other information related to the standards;

(2) Granting and managing NF logos that comply with standards;

(3) Make French contributions to international standardization work and fully consider the suggestions from this work.

The NF logo also includes the following content beyond IEC or CEE safety standards:

(1) Limitations on disturbances to the power grid caused by household and similar electrical appliances with electronic devices;

(2) The performance of the following household appliances: vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, cooking stove, cooking utensil, oven, washing machine, refrigerator, food freezer, room heater, and water storage heater.

4. Obtain NF certification through CB testing certificate

Manufacturers providing CB test certificates should submit the following documents:

(1) Application Form

(2) Application letter with name and address provided

(3) CB Test Certificate

(4) CB Test Report

When submitting CB test certificates for national level accreditation, UTE will notify the applicant whether they need to submit product samples. UTE is preparing to approve the attachment of CB test certificate and the test report including French national differences. UTE recognizes CB test certificates obtained by non member country manufacturers according to Procedure 1. Factory inspection is required before issuing the certificate, and the inspection requirements are in accordance with special rules. Factory supervision and inspection are required afterwards, and the inspection requirements are in accordance with special rules. The tracking testing of samples requires sampling, and the testing fees for these samples are charged according to the different products. Unless cancelled in advance due to non-compliance or at the request of the applicant, the certificate remains valid.
